Code of Conduct
& Ethics Policy

Capital Crime's Code of Conduct & Ethics Policy

Capital Crime is a welcoming and inclusive festival. To ensure a fun and enjoyable environment for everyone we have the following policy in place. By attending Capital Crime, all guests, customers and staff agree to this policy.

Conduct that breaches this policy will lead to immediate removal from Capital Crime, a lifetime ban from future events and Capital Crime reserves the right to take such further legal action as deemed necessary.

Be patient and courteous.

Be inclusive. We welcome and support people of all backgrounds and identities. This includes,
but is not limited to members of any sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, culture, national
origin, social and economic class, educational level, colour, immigration status, sex, age, size,
family status, political belief, religion, and mental and physical ability. Guests who discriminate
or abuse anyone based on their background or identity will be deemed to be in breach of the
ethics and conduct policy.

Be respectful. People won't all agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for disrespectful behavior. We will all experience frustration from time to time, but we cannot allow that frustration to become personal attacks. An environment where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive or creative one. Guests who are aggressive, threatening or violent will be deemed to be in breach of the ethics and conduct policy.

Be thoughtful. Always conduct yourself professionally. Harassment, intimidation and exclusionary behavior aren't acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Discriminatory jokes and language.
- Sharing/showing sexually explicit or violent material via electronic devices or other
means.
- Personal insults, especially those using racist or sexist terms.
- Unwelcome sexual attention, sexual coercion or behaviour that does not respect the
boundaries and rights of others.
- Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior.

Any violation of the above should be reported to a member of the Capital Crime team
immediately. We treat any such reports in confidence and will take timely and decisive action to
investigate and deal with any breaches of this policy.

The above policy will be enforced at Capital Crime and across all of our communications. If you are planning to attend one of our events and have questions about the above policy or if you would like to make a complaint please contact our Festival Director lizzie@capitalcrime.org
